Women’s Basketball: A Season on the Brink
The Aggies have now lost seven straight after a tough 74-52 loss to Florida, and the frustration is starting to show. Poor shooting, rebounding struggles, and mounting turnovers have taken a toll, but the biggest concern might be the team’s culture. A report surfaced of a player leaving the court mid-game out of frustration, while head coach Joni Taylor appeared disengaged on the sidelines. With three games left in the season, the Ags need any kind of momentum to avoid closing out the year on a double-digit losing streak.
Men’s Basketball: Must-Win Matchups Ahead
After a strong home win against Arkansas, the Aggies stumbled on the road at Mississippi State, putting up one of their worst shooting performances of the season. Buzz Williams’ squad now faces a massive test at Reed Arena against No. 6 Tennessee. A&M will have to battle Tennessee’s dominant paint presence while fixing their own turnover issues—19 turnovers and only 19 field goals made against Mississippi State is not a winning formula.
The silver lining? The Aggies thrive at home, and Reed Arena is hosting just its second-ever top-10 matchup. The blackout game atmosphere should give them an edge.
Baseball: Aggies Bats Stay Hot
Texas A&M baseball remains the No. 1 team in the country and opened their series against Cal Poly with a 6-1 win despite frigid conditions. Gavin Grahovac’s home run (111 mph exit velocity, 367 feet) ignited the offense, while Jace LaViolette put on a complete performance with a double, RBI, and elite defense in center field. A&M’s bullpen was efficient, despite the challenge of gripping the ball in near-freezing weather. The series continues today at Blue Bell Park—rain permitting.
Softball & Tennis: Quiet Dominance
A&M softball remains on fire, now 12-1 after demolishing Florida A&M with back-to-back run-rule victories. Sydney Lessentine recorded 19 strikeouts in one game, likely setting a school record. The real test comes this weekend as the Ags take on No. 8 Florida State in Tallahassee.
Women’s tennis, fresh off a 6-1 win over Pepperdine, heads into SEC play against TU. The Aggies already beat them 4-1 in the ITA Championships, and they’ll look to do it again in Austin. Listen In
