Rev Replay: A Night to Remember at Reed
Women’s Basketball: A Tough End to the Season
The Aggies’ season ended in brutal fashion with a 77-37 loss in the SEC Tournament. Losing by 40 on that stage raises major concerns about the direction of the program. With the offseason now underway, the biggest questions revolve around recruiting, injuries, and head coach Joni Taylor’s future. Can this team bounce back, or is a bigger rebuild coming?
Men’s Basketball: Beating No. 1 on Senior Night
The Aggies pulled off one of the biggest wins in program history, taking down No. 1-ranked Auburn in Reed Arena. It was the first time in A&M history that the men’s team has beaten the No. 1 team in the country, and the energy in the arena was electric.
A&M dominated defensively, shutting down Auburn’s Johni Broome, who was limited to just eight points. Wade Taylor, Anderson Garcia, and Zuric Phelps led the charge offensively, while the Aggies also had one of their best three-point shooting nights of the season.
After the game, Buzz Williams delivered an emotional speech on the court, leading to the surprise jersey retirement of Wade Taylor—a moment that will be remembered in Aggie basketball history. Now, all focus turns to LSU and closing out the regular season strong before March Madness.
Baseball: A Mixed Bag
The Aggies had a rollercoaster week, dropping a game to UTSA before bouncing back with wins over Rice (14-4), Texas Southern (6-2), and New Mexico State (19-0). The blowout against New Mexico State was especially impressive, as A&M needed just one pitcher to get through the game, keeping the bullpen fresh for upcoming matchups.
Softball: A Statement Win
A&M softball continued its dominant run, picking up a huge win over No. 3 Florida to cement their spot as one of the top teams in the country. The Aggies remain ranked in the top five and look like legitimate title contenders as SEC play looms.
Water Polo: Avenging a Loss
The Aggie women’s water polo team had an outstanding weekend, defeating TU 8-4 to even the season series after a narrow loss last month. The A-team also demolished Rice (17-1) and Texas State (11-4), while the B-team picked up a dominant 21-5 win over Rice.
Track & Field: SEC Champs
Texas A&M men’s track & field won its first-ever SEC Championship, while the women’s team finished second overall. Pole vaulter Jack Ruckert added another medal to his collection, making it five straight SEC podium finishes in his career.
NFL Combine: Shining on the Big Stage
Former Aggie Shamar Stewart stole the show at the NFL Combine, posting a perfect 10.0 athletic score, a feat accomplished by only a handful of players in history. Meanwhile, Christian Kirk is returning to Texas, signing with the Houston Texans after a stint with the Jaguars.
